Fun things to do during Loadshedding

by Unathi Balele

Unfortunately, loadshedding is just one of those things that has become very hard to get used to. Every time the power goes off, it’s as though it’s going off for the first time.

Since there is no solution to be implemented soon to combat loadshedding, we might as well make the most out of it. After all, maybe there is a bright side to the darkness.

Here are a few ideas of how you can pass the load shedding time:

Host a braai

What better way of killing two birds with one stone. There is no power to cook on the stove, so this could be the perfect opportunity to make a meal on the braai stand. You can have it with your family or invite a few friends over, it can be a bring and braai too. Before you know it, you have killed that stage 6 four hour power cut over some great food and amazing vibes.

Bond with family

What usually happens when the power cuts is family members going into their rooms to sleep it off. This makes sense when the loadshedding is scheduled for the 10pm slot or anything later than that. Use this time to catch up and bond as a family like old times.

Bring out the board games

This is a fun way to bond with your friends or family. You can bond over a game of 30 seconds or monopoly.

Meditate

This is great if you live alone, take this time to meditate and reflect.
