Gugu Khati, the wife of DJ Tira, is reportedly suing Slindile ‘Sli’ Khumalo after the anti-gender-based violence (GBV) activist alleged that Gugu and musician Tebogo Lerole were having an affair.
ZiMoja reports that DJ Tira (real name Mthokozisi Khathi) and his wife Gugu told the publication that they were initially not bothered by the false claims. It was only when the rumour started to spread, and the DJ was tagged in social media posts that it got too much for the couple.
“The issue is no longer a laughing matter, it is serious. Remember, Tira and his wife are brands, and they will do anything to protect the brand they worked hard for,” said a source to ZiMoja.
The publication also mentions that Sli told ZiMoja that Tebogo tried to force her to share a hotel room with his partner. Sli alleges this was done so that Tebogo could sleep with Gugu during a trip.
The award-winning entrepreneur refuted these claims and challenged Sli to a boxing match to resolve the allegations, reports the publication.
While speaking to ZiMoja, Gugu stated to the publication that she was consulting her legal team to best handle the matter. She said, “I am definitely suing her.”
Her husband of almost 10 years previously told TshisaLIVE that he was unbothered by the claims because he knows his wife. “I trust my woman; I don’t pay attention to nonsense.”
Tebogo – a member of the award-winning group Kwela Tebza – also spoke to TshisaLIVE, saying, “We dismissed Slindile because of her ill behaviour, she does not represent the ethos of the foundation. Through that, she decided to be angry and get back at me. She wrote the messages saying she will get back at me, and claimed that Gugu and I are having an affair.”
Tebogo, also an anti-GBV activist, continued, “I’m not bothered with that. I think Gugu knows the truth, her team knows the truth and I think even the husband knows the truth. I have known Gugu since I was 15 years old.”
Upon hearing about the legal action taken against her, Sli said, “I’m patiently waiting for them. They know my address and my number or my email.”
