Listen up Mzansi… Chili and Shoes are back! This time, in the action thriller reboot iNumber Number: Jozi Gold.
The buddy-cop duo are played by S’dumo Mtshali (Isibaya and Back of the Moon) and Presley Chweneyagae (Tsotsi and The River).
In this Netflix reboot, the pair will return to the streets of Johannesburg with their badges and unorthodox way of fighting organised crime by going up against their opponent, Hyena Man (played by Bongile Mantsai, who has also starred in Knuckle City).
The franchise was created by director Donovan Marsh, who also brought us local hits Avenged, Dollars and White Pipes and international movies such as the Spud movies and Hunter Killer.
The stellar cast includes seasoned veterans Fana Mokoena (Cold Harbour and State of Violence), Brenda Ngxoli (Sew the Winter to My Skin), Clementine Mosimane (Poppie Nongena), and Deon Lotz (Raaiselkind), as well as rising stars Noxolo Dlamini (Jiva!), Kgosi Flietor and Mxolisi Nodom (Scandal!).
As the title of the movie suggests, gold will be the focus of the movie. However, the precious element is part of the biggest gold heist in Africa. In the criminal underworld of Johannesburg, will the jaded undercover cop who is tasked with cracking the case follow the law and protect the wealth of a fat cat dictator? Or, will he help an audacious heist crew succeed with their devious plan?
iNumber Number: Jozi Gold is set to premiere on Netflix on 23 June 2023.
