South African actor Zola Hashatsi has criticised Kaya 959 for dismissing Dineo Ranaka. Additionally, he mentioned Unathi Nkayi, who was also fired from the station.

Taking to his Instagram timeline, the actor accused the station of ignoring the topic of mental health and fired Dineo because she left for New York soon after speaking publicly about her struggle with depression.

He also went on to point out that media personalities Unathi Nkayi and Sibongile Mtayi also lost their jobs at the station.

The actor questioned how they switched from supporting Dineo to firing her in the end. During Dineo’s mental breakdown and admission of depression in May, the station released a statement in which they shared their sympathy towards Dineo.

Zola asked, “Dear @kayaon959 @959breakfast_, you know I am a fan, and we are going to work together soon, but how did we go from supporting @dineoranaka with the letter in May to firing her?”

He also added that he is not sure if he wants to work with the station anymore.

“This does not sit well with me, and I’m not sure if I want to work with you guys again. Depression is real, and a lot of us are suffering from it silently, so because she went to NYC, this happens.”

He then went on to point out that Unathi and Sibongile were also fired from the station in a similar manner.

“I won’t be tuning in until this is solved. You did this with @unathi.co and Sibongile Mtayi. I am not happy,” he wrote.
