Popular podcast hosts Solomzi ‘Sol’ Phenduka and Macgyver ‘MacG’ Mukwevho are venturing into a new form of entertainment together. The dynamic duo confirmed that they are set to host a new game show called Raid the Cage: South Africa.
Produced by Anele Mdoda and Frankie Du Toit’s production company Rose and Oaks Media, as reported by entertainment commentator Phil Mphela, the action-packed game show is a spin on the American version hosted by actor Damon Wayans Jr and TV personality Jeannie Mai.
While at this year’s SABC Video Entertainment’s content reveal, the main voices behind Podcast and Chill with MacG explained to the event’s host, Nomalanga Shozi, what the show would entail.
Sol shared that the game show would be made up of two teams who need to decide which prizes they would want to take home. However, prizes may only be obtained if team members answer questions by MacG and Sol correctly within a certain amount of time.
“There’s going to be a cage. In this cage, there are all sorts of things: cars, TVs, money, appliances, holiday getaways, and clothes. Imagine you are in Makro or Game.”
The radio personality added, “They need to answer general knowledge questions. Every question they get correct, they earn the person in the cage time to snatch as much stuff out of the cage which they are essentially going to win. However, they don’t know how much time they have in the cage. Once they get the question wrong, time is up.”
Sharing that there is also a live audience, Sol continued, “The trick is, you don’t know what to go for or how smart your partner is. If they get stuck in the cage, they lose everything outside the cage.”
