We’re not even halfway through the year, but already some of our favourite celebs are owning 2015 by making big career strides. Here is our list of 5 celebrities who can use #20OwningIt and mean it.
Bonang Matheba
Our very own Queen made history as the first South African celebrity to model Cartier accessories for the Metro Awards red carpet last month. And, get this – the jewellery and clutch bag was worth R1.2 million! Then to top it off, B flew all the way to California in the USA to scoop a Nickelodeon Kids Choice award in the category of Favourite South African Radio DJ.
Beyoncé Knowles
Adding ‘shoe designer’ to her list of achievements is Queen B, who will release her very own high heel shoe with Italian shoe maestro Giuseppe Zanotti this year. This comes shortly after launching her own vegan meal delivery service. This Easter weekend, she did it again by releasing a new single ‘Die with you’ for her wedding anniversary to Jay Z, via TIDAL – a music streaming service she co-owns with her husband.
Trevor Noah
Becoming the first South African comedian to reach such strides, Mr Noah was announced as the new host of the most watched television show in America – The Daily Show on Comedy Central. All we have to say is, rock on Mr Noah!
Rihanna
In another first, the singer is now the ambassador for fashion house Dior – the first black woman to occupy the role. We look forward to seeing her in the next Dior Secret Garden campaign which premiers in spring.
Lerato Kganyago
In addition to presenting the Link TV show, Lerato began 2015 as a club DJ. As if rocking the decks wasn’t enough, she has just made Metro FM’s new line-up with a slot which she shares with William Lehong on Saturdays. From beauty queen to radio and club DJ, all in less than a year; slay Lerato, slay!
