Veteran actor Jerry Mofokeng is set to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Free State‘s Faculty of Humanities. This doctorate is in recognition of his contribution to the South African film, theater and television industry spanning over 20 years.
The award-winning star shared his excitement to be honoured saying in part, “because it’s a reputable university, I know it’s not a favour, it is something well deserved.”

He joins the university’s stellar list of previous recipients such as Caiphus Semenya, Letta Mbuli, Esther Mahlangu as well as John Kani.
Jerry will receive the doctorate during the university’s June graduation ceremonies.
