Award-winning actress Tracee Ellis Ross debuted her first song titled Love Myself. The song is from the star’s new movie The High Note.
According to Deadline, Tracee plays Grace Davis, a superstar whose talent and ego have reached unbelievable heights. Maggie is Grace’s overworked personal assistant who’s stuck running errands, but still aspires to her childhood dream of becoming a music producer. When Grace’s manager (Ice Cube) presents her with a choice that could alter the course of her career, Maggie and Grace come up with a plan that could change their lives forever.
Speaking to Porter magazine about the film, Tracee shared that singing has been her biggest fear. She said in part; “It’s been my biggest dream and my most daunting fear to sing. But when you have a mother who is epic in that way, somehow secretly inside you think, ‘That’s not the thing to do. Pick something else.’”
She continued; “Nobody knew if I could sing or not. My publicist called my other publicist and was like, ‘But who is singing?’ And she was like, ‘Tracee – she’s been in the studio for months…’ This was life-changing for me. To face one of your biggest fears and to face it in such a public way.”
