Chick flick: ‘Girls trip 2’ movie sequel heading to Ghana

It has been made official, the movie Girls Trip 2 is coming to Africa.

It’s been more than 5 years since the chick flick topped the charts in 2017, Girls trip was and still is a hit for a cozy night in with the girls.

The writer-director-producer Tracy Oliver, who co-wrote the original 2017 Girls Trip confirmed the news at the Sundance Film Festival with Variety that the show is coming back for a sequel.

Tracy, also shared with the cast that “it’s officially happening. I can say that.” She also provided a plot update, and while the film’s producer Will Packer “might kill me, we’re looking to set it in Ghana.”

It is also said that while the cast of the show are going off to Ghana to film Girls trip 2 they will be joining the African annual music festival called Afrochella.

The movie starring, Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish is about 5 former University friends who find themselves again in the hustle and bustle of life navigating relationships, work and finance horrors. In the movie the ladies reunite for a trip to the Essence Festival in New Orleans.

Although, the timeline for the production of the movie hasn’t been finalised yet, there is much anticipation towards the sequel.

According to People Queen Latifah shared that her and other lead actresses of the movie have been waiting for a script since 2019.

However, the other original cast members are yet to confirm or deny if they’re coming back for the movie sequel.
