Lebohang Lephatsoana also known as Royal Lebo, who played Tumelo Dibakwane on Youngins recently noted down his heartfelt gratitude to his character as they part ways.
Tumelo’s character represented the LGBTQI+ community as a queer Grade 10 learner who yearned to be seen and heard at school and in his home. The Showmax originals-teen Youngins premiered earlier this year with an engaging storyline which became topical on social media as many users felt it was more relatable to South African high school learners.
The show follows five students in a boarding school setting, who navigate adulthood together and work together to expose the principal who was a predator.
With the airing of the season 1 finale, the multi-talented thespian took to his Instagram page to share his heartfelt gratitude to his debut acting character; Tumelo fondly known as ‘Mokgweri’.
In the letter, Lebohang is thankful for the opportunity to portray the story of Tumelo and the experience he gained from embarking on this journey.
He notes that through portraying Tumelo he had a chance to delve into diverse emotions and navigate challenging situations. He added that he felt honoured to bring Tumelo’s story to life and witness the impact it had on the audience.
He concluded by thanking his fellow cast and crew members for their mutual trust, support and shared dedication to making Youngins a memorable experience.
