Podcast hosts MacG and Sol Phenduka have officially responded to the defamation lawsuit filed by actress and activist Rosie Motene. The lawsuit comes from comments made by comedian Tol Ass Mo during an episode on their popular show, Podcast and Chill with MacG.
Sunday World reports that Rosie revealed that Tol Ass Mo, real name Mongezi Mahlangu, referred to her as “Koo beans” and “Satan’s child” due to claims that she pressured the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to prosecute him for alleged rape. Toll Ass Mo accused Rosie of coaching Lerato and pressuring the NPA, which he claimed did not act on her alleged demands.
Rosie stated that these insults and accusations were defamatory and harmful to her reputation, leading her to seek R200,000 in damages. She also requests a court order for Tol Ass Mo to issue a public apology on social media and the podcast where the statements were made.
Additionally, she demanded apologies from MacG, Sol, and Ghost Lady for broadcasting the defamatory remarks without verifying their accuracy. The publication further states that the apologies are to be publicly displayed for 30 days and made accessible on her social media.
However, in a video shared on X by @ThisIsColbert. MacG and Sol addressed the defamation lawsuit they highlighted that their podcast includes a disclaimer stating that they are not responsible for the opinions expressed by their guests.
