Singer and songwriter, Naledi Aphiwe Myongwane has released a public apology following her stunt at Mthandeni Summer Experience Event.

This follows after Naledi was pelted with water bottles on stage by Maskandi fans after she reportedly cut off Maskandi artist, Khuzani ‘Gatsheni’ Ndlovu’s performance at the event.

In the statement released on her Facebook page, Naledi offered a heartfelt apology to Gatsheni and his team. And stated that she did not intend to cause disruption or disrespect, especially to such a respected and established artist in the Maskandi community.

“I acknowledge that my actions were inconsiderate, and I deeply regret the way I conducted myself on stage. I respect the values of this community, and I deeply regret how I conducted myself on stage,” she penned.

The Ngiyabonga singer also asked her supporters to understand and support her as she continues her journey.

“I know I have room to improve, and I promise to use this experience as a stepping stone to becoming a better artist and person,” she vowed.

An X (formerly Twitter) user shared a clip of what happened at the event. From the clip, a DJ can be seen being removed from the decks and replaced by another one, while Gatsheni and his dancers were still on stage. Later, Naledi walks to the stage between Gatsheni and the dancers and starts her performance. The aggravated fans then started throwing water bottles on stage. Which led to the songbird being removed from the stage for her safety.
