Actress Nomvelo Makhanya popular for her character Lindiwe Ngema whom she played on eTv’s soapie Scandal has recently announced that she has ventured into the music mainstream as a DJ.

Joining a few female DJs in the industry such as DJ Zinhle and Miss Cosmo, the thespian is now known as Mvelo in the DJing world.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Nomvelo said she has always wanted to enter the music scene since working with DJ Black Coffee’s former record label Soulistic.

“When I started DJing, I was in the studio trying to work on my vocals; I then decided to figure things out in the studio and started DJing classes with Lebza The Villian. I was learning from different people while I was managed by Soulistic, however, I have since parted ways with them,” she said.

Still speaking to the publication Nomvelo said: “I play Afrotech and Afrohouse, and the time has come for me to release a single or two. People should stay tuned to my social media pages for my soon-to-be-released single.”

Taking to her Instagram page to share her videos in action, the media personality said in a caption: “Starting something new is always so scary especially because everyone always has an opinion, but the past 6 months of constant practice and gigging has been amazing and so fulfilling. Shoutout to everyone that has been in my corner” read the caption.

The post consists of different videos where Nomvelo is DJing on different occasions, with some chanting, “Mvelo, we want to party,”

Instagram users weighed in on the comment section.

One user said: “Congratulations Queen! Have fun and do you! Everyone always has something to say! Kill it.”

“Unleash every talent baby girl, I love this for you.” said another user.
