What was once a dream marriage between legendary actor, Sello Maake kaNcube and Pearl Mbewe has turned into a nuptial nightmare as the estranged lovers exchange blows in a courtroom showdown.
This is after Sello allegedly sold a luxury car that formed part of the estate that was supposed to be shared with his ex-wife, Pearl. According to Sunday World, Sello also told Pearl that she would not receive a black cent from the R1.2 million that they were supposed to receive from his ex-girlfriend from KwaZulu Natal.
The multi-award-winning thespian renowned for roles he portrayed on Generations, The Queen and Champions, is said to have been allegedly forcing Pearl to walk away from their marriage empty-handed, while he was dissolving the assets that form part of their estate. The publication reveals that the actor has instructed Pearl to resign from their two companies, Tap Roots Project and Sello Maake kaNcube Holdings, threatening to have her removed if she does not follow his instructions.
Sello’s lawyers have sent a letter to Pearl’s legal team to clarify how the assets have been dissolved thus far.
As per the Sunday World report, the letter from the law firm’s lawyer, Gert van der Merwe read:
“Our client disposed of this vehicle in January 2025 in order to provide for his own living expenses. Your client’s shenanigans caused our client’s income to dry up, resulting in him disposing of assets to pay for his living expenses. The vehicle is, therefore, not an item due for discussion or consideration in divorce proceedings. As a result of the aforesaid, I am of the view that the divorce proceedings can simply be settled on the basis that a decree of divorce be granted and no order pertaining to the division of the accrual.”
Recently Sello made his appearance at Randburg Magistrates Court surrounding the protection order he filed against his ex-wife. According to Daily Sun, upon hearing about the protection order that Sello acquired, Pearl also served him with a counter-protection order.
