Former Our Perfect Wedding presenter Nomsa Buthelezi left some internet users with sore hearts when she took to her social media platform TikTok to share how she was removed from a television show without any explanation.
The actress and presenter who is loved for her comedic and versatile nature has acted in many mzansi television productions such as Lockdown, Generations, Isibaya, Abomzala, and many more.
The actress who hails from Alexander township in Johannesburg is also an award winner, having received the South African Film Television Award (SAFTA) for Best Supporting Actress in TV Comedy for her role as Thandi on the local comedy series Abomzala.
Sharing how life has been for her since joining the entertainment industry many years ago, a sobbing Nomsa began her video apologising for her emotional state also noting that 2024 was a year to let out all the hurt and pain she was carrying.
The Gomora Diva, as she calls herself went on to detail how thick women in the media and entertainment industry appreciate jobs as it is an industry that is mostly focused on a certain body shape.
She noted that she was hoping that the video would find the person in a similar situation as hers even if they were in a different industry.
Starting her entertainment dream, Nomsa shared that all she had was a dream as her body size wasn’t the popular size back then.
She added:
“I feel like for Nomsa Buthelezi justice wasn’t served. There are things that I’ve buried deep inside. Do you know, I get maybe a month two calls, five calls, three calls but I never look at them like that. I look at them as something I can grow. Even if I get a three-minute chance I have to make it work.”
She added that she later took over a show that was presented by a very talented, gorgeous, and nicely figured-lady. She shared that she went on and gave the show her all making sure that people will overlook her “roundness” and see her talent. Nomsa also added that the 101% that she brought on the show made her succeed with ratings skyrocketing.
Nomsa also noted that she was later taken off the show without any explanation. She added that some people went to higher powers in the media fraternity and spoke badly about her, leading to her dismissal.
“The sad thing is that these people have ruined my reputation.” She also added many people pretended to be her friends only to steal her ideas. She concluded by saying she also lost gigs because of her lesbian sexuality.
