With National Heritage Day only a stone throw away, now is perhaps the perfect time to start planning how you intend to celebrate the day.
Let’s be honest, while braaing is the popular option for many South Africans, hosting a braai at your home is not always ideal – especially when you consider all the cleaning that needs to be done after the guests have left, it is your holiday after all.
A simpler solution would therefore be identifying a few nice locations within your town or city where you and your family can enjoy some of South Africa’s most delicious cuisines, and wonderful entertainment for everyone to enjoy.
If you are based in Johannesburg, we have you sorted.
Here are some wonderful places you can explore this Heritage Month:
Celebrate your heritage at Carnival City
If you are into music and more specifically afro pop then Carnival City is where you need to be this, Heritage Day. Here you will have the opportunity to get swept off your feet by one of the country’s most beloved artists Mlindo the Vocalist as he takes listeners on a soulful experience to the melodies of some of his most loved songs. Fans can also look forward to a few performances by Big Zulu.

Heritage Walk
Could there be any better way to explore our country’s history than to receive a guided tour through many of Joburg’s most significant historical sights.
From 14 – 28 September you can explore the city’s rich history by visiting famous landmarks such as the Apartheid Museum, Hector Pieterson Memorial and the Johannesburg City Hall.
Heritage Lunch
If food is what you are looking for, a delicious heritage lunch at Lebo’s Backpackers should do the trick.
