Multi-award winning artist Missy Elliot makes history, with a career that spans over 25 years American rapper, singer, dancer, and record producer Missy Elliot who started her career in the mid-1990’s bringing us jams such as ‘Get your freak on, Lose Control, and Work It’ is still in the game and like good wine she just gets better and better.
Missy Elliot makes history:
The ‘4 my people’ hitmaker has been nominated for a 2019 Songwriters Hall of fame Award making her the first female rapper to ever been nominated for this award. Songwriters are eligible for this award after they have been writing songs for at least 20 years.
If Missy is inducted she will join Jay Z who was inducted in June 2007 and Jermaine Dupri who was inducted in 2018 as the only rappers to receive this achievement.
And while Missy has been nominated, only six writers will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Missy joins Mariah Carey, Monica, Cat Stevens, John Prine, Lloyd Price Dean Dillion and more. Missy went on to Twitter to share her excitement and congratulate everyone who was nominated.

Last month, it was announced that Missy was working on an album which would drop next year.
