Power couple Beyoncé and Jay Z were honoured with the prestigious Vanguard Award at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. The couple received the award for their contributions to the LGBTQI community which includes advocating for same-sex marriage, employing and incorporating the work from LGBTQ community in their music.

Beyoncé got visibly emotional as she gave an acceptance speech where she dedicated the award to her uncle, Uncle Johnny, who was a gay man struggling with HIV. She shared in part; “Witnessing his battle with HIV was one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever lived.”
