I started the National Braai Day initiative 15 years ago. At the time, my intention was not to become a braai master, but rather to encourage all South Africans to become braai masters. The initiative was for people to share their heritage and unite around fires. From this point, my love and knowledge for braaing grew.

Being a braai master is easy. You just have to use wood for your braai, invite your friends over and unite around the fire. The beauty of it is that everyone can be a braai master. Also, using one of my braai cookbooks will achieve you that status a lot quicker.
