Our features writer Fundiswa Nkwanyana used The Body Shop Shea Butter and tells us what she thinks.
After hearing beauty and hair experts talk about the benefits of shea butter on skin and hair, I became intrigued to find out what the hype was all about. And, it so happened that I was looking for an all-in-one natural product to fix the damage caused by the harsh winter weather to my hair and skin.

As a conscious consumer, I chose to use this product because it’s part of The Body Shop community trade that empowers Ghanaian women, and I love that it’s sold in its purest form. When I got my hands on it, I loved the 100% recyclable outer packaging because I could see and feel the texture of the product through the transparent plastic circle on the packaging. But, I had to move it to another container because after opening and closing it a couple of times, I struggled to close it tightly because the re-sealable seal became loose.
I applied it to my natural hair twice a day because it was brittle and breaking. After 10 days, I noticed that my hair was looking healthier and the breakage decreased considerably. It is now soft and moisturised, making it easier to style. I was happy to see that it doesn’t contain any artificial ingredients and chemicals, as it’s 100 % natural and made from 192 shea nuts.

When I applied it to my face in the evenings, I loved that a small amount went a long way, and it felt soft and luxurious. After a couple of days, I noticed that my skin was moisturised and now has a natural glow. I highly recommend this product because my skin and hair has never looked better. I also love that I only need to scoop a small amount to use across a large area. You can purchase yours at The Body Shop and Clicks.
