Anele Mdoda brings American reality TV series ‘The Masked Singer’ to SA

Media personality Anele Mdoda is gearing up to bringing American reality TV series The Masked Singer to a South African audience.

The queen of radio and TV’s multimedia company Rose And Oaks Media will be partnering with Primedia to produce a local version of the international hit show.

“BREAKING: #Primedia bought the rights to The Masked Singer.

“The show will be produced in South Africa by the multimedia company in partnership with Anele’s production company, Rose and Oaks.

“The format will be done in three languages,” entertainment reporter Phil Mphela tweeted.

According to media reports, The Masked Singer is a singing competition and guessing game.

“The performers are celebrities wearing elaborate head-to-toe costumes to conceal their identities from the host, panellists, audience, and other contestants.

“At the end of the voting, the contestant with the least votes has to reveal themselves and leave the competition,” the report said.

This venture is the second show Anele’s production has executed since doing Netflix’s first Afrikaans series, Ludik with her partners Paul Buys and Frankie Du Toit.

“I’ve always wanted to produce ever since I was an Oprah [Winfrey] fan … I remember registering Anele Mdoda productions and never really did anything and to be fair I wasn’t ready and its such a lesson to anyone that just because they feel they are powerful enough to get into certain rooms, wait until the talent reaches the power,” Anele said, in a interview.

The host of the 947 Breakfast show said she fell in love with The Masked Singer because it is a family show. She said her wish has always been about creating a show that will bring family together to sit down and watch it.
