Black Twitter is the fearless and inventive movement that leaves no one protected and no wit censored while addressing issues of common interest or relatable content among the Twitter community. The South African sense of humour is unmatched, even in times of sadness or seriousness, we always find ways to make light of the situation. Here is a round up of a few moments that had us in stitches this year.
Funda Thembi
Thembi is a church-goer who was reading a bible verse at church, but that was not what black Twitter found hilarious. Thembi’s pastor kept re-iterating what she was reading as she read each line with more intensity. Soon Tiktoker’s took over and made it a challenge and it blew up. Watch the original video for a good laugh and head over to Tiktok for an even better laugh.
Murife don’t run
Poor Murife is being chased by a monkey and as he runs for his life, people are taking videos and exclaiming, ‘Murife don’t run’. The audio fast become one of the most used audios on social media when people are captured being chased by dogs.
Cheesecake Gate
Who can forget the infamous Sonia and Matthew Booth cheesecake? No-one! Matthew Booth allegedly cheated on his wife and baked his alleged mistress a cheesecake in his marital home. In true South African fashion, this served as a good laugh. The poor cheesecake trended for two days. Instagram food content creators jumped on the bandwagon and released their cheesecake recipes, we also didn’t want to miss out and released one as well.
