Nearing the end of our first taste of 2023, many of us share the same sentiment. We have all the resolutions, intentions, ‘anti goals‘—the works! But how do we actually implement them in a manageable way? How do we make sure we get our daily dose of wellness amid the natural order of our day-to-day lives?
While our phones and tablets can be the source of a lot of mental stress thanks to social media, an influx of sensationalist news and a lack of workplace boundaries for some, these tiny devices are incredible tools when used with the purpose of betterment in mind.
Here are 6 apps that have changed my life in little ways, for the better, and might just do the same for you:
1. Imprint
This app is for anyone whose resolution this year is to learn more.
Imprint summarises books and topics into bite-sized visual cards, paired with the most important key points. It’s perfect for the person who wants to learn and read more, but only has a few minutes in the day to do just that. Think of it as the app that makes study cards (and tests you on them) but for topics you’ve always wanted to know more about.
The app personalises itself to your goals. Maybe you want to up your financial intelligence. Or, maybe you need your favourite self-help books in summary form. Perhaps its the inner-workings of the mind you’re drawn to. Whatever your topic, this app is the perfect pocket pal.
With impressive works like Atomic Habits, Sapiens, Rich Dad Poor Dad and more on the tiny cards, this is one app that will realise your goal to learn well and often.
2. Evernote
If your goal for the year is to get more organised, listen up. Evernote is the daily diary, content journal, calendar and notetaker of your dreams. You can customise it however you like and fit it to whichever style suits your brain the best.
Especially if you’re an iPad user, Evernote is the gift that keeps on giving.
3. Duolingo
For the person who promised themselves they’d learn a new language this year, Duolingo welcomes you with open arms. Accessible, consistent (and very persistent, thanks to the Duolingo owl), Duolingo makes language learning competitive and thrilling.
You’ll find yourself exchanging doom scrolling for the opportunity to keep your streak on the app and fill your time with better activities.
Perfect for beginners who like a step-by-step process, few apps do it better than the green owl.
4.Monefy
If overspending and under-budgeting has been the main source of your headaches, Monefy comes to the rescue.
Do away with overdrawn Excel spreadsheets in exchange for a simple, user-friendly app that allows you to track everything you spend on the go.
Especially if you’re trying to get better at tracking your money habits, Monefy makes the entire process easier, more organised and colour-coded.
5. Worry Watch
If you feel overwhelmed by your anxiety, and kicking it to the curb is at the top of your goals for 2023, Worry Watch is an incredibly safe space to be.
The process is sweet, simple and effective:
- Record your anxiety.
- Give it a reason. Is it social, real, biased, based on labeling, perfectionism or unhealthy filtering (only focusing on the negatives)?
- Figure out how you should respond to it (or record any action to alleviate the feeling)
- Reflect on the feeling (Check the outcome).
