Many people are saddened by this day as it is the day where South Africa’s most popular rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes memorial service will take place.
The memorial service will only be for family, close friends and people who have secured their tickets. According to The Citizen, the family announced on Tuesday that they will be giving out tickets for free, to control the number of attendees and to be mindful of the venues capacity.
The Megacy is still in disbelief as today confirms that the SuperMega is really gone.
@KhumaloDanica shared on Twitter, “My eyes are not ready for the tears we are going to cry today. I never thought we would be watching AKA’s memorial service.”
“All tickets have been fully subscribed to and no ticket will be allocated or issued.”

The memorial service will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg. Details are as follows:
Date: Friday, 17 February 2023
Time: 3pm
Location: Sandton Convention Centre
For those that won’t be attending the memorial service, it will be live streamed on AKA’s Youtube Page (Akaworldwide).
The national broadcaster, SABC, has also confirmed to air the memorial service live on SABC 1 at 3 o’clock.
“We as the Forbes family would like to acknowledge the outpouring of love we have received over the past few days. Kiernan wasn’t just loved by us as a family, but by the nation, as we’ve seen from loved ones, friends, media tributes and the MEGACY.
It is our wish to celebrate the life of Kiernan with those he touched and impacted through his gift of music. His memorial will therefore be open to the public as well as streamed online on YouTube.” – Forbes family
