TV and radio presenter, Mark Pilgrim died at the age of 53 after losing his battle with stage four lung cancer.
His employer, HOT 1027 confirmed his death in a statement. He was said to have died at his home with his family.
The statement read:
“This morning, DJ Mark Pilgrim lost his battle with cancer. He fought bravely until the bitter end. Mark died peacefully at home with his fiancée Adrienne.”
The celebrity was well-known for hosting a number of radio shows on 5FM, 94.7 Highveld Stereo, 94.5 Kfm, Hot919, and Hot102.7fm.
Mark was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that had spread to his femur, the base of his spine, and lymph nodes.
Mark confirmed his cancer had returned after 33 years in remission at the start of 2022.

He documented his journey from that point forward, including his battle with Covid-19, surgical recoveries, and time with his family.

His colleague, Simon Parkinson left him a bottle of his favourite wine, The Chocolate Block every time he got back from his oncology treatment. It had a countdown and a feel good text written on it every time. Judging from his Instagram updates, he had received nine bottles from his dear friend.
