Slain rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes also known as AKA, shined as the biggest winner at the 17th Metro FM Music Awards which took place at the Mbombela Stadium, Mpumalanga, on Saturday evening.
AKA, who was nominated in six categories, scooped four awards, including Artist of the Year and Best Hip-Hop Artist.
The family was excited by the win though still mourning their son. The awards were received by his daughter Kairo Forbes, and his parents Lynn and Tony Forbes.
Many of his fans appear to be overjoyed by the news, however, some social media users have said that the rapper simply won because of the nature of his death.
Tweeps shared mixed reactions to AKA’s Metro FM Music Awards win saying:

AKA was gunned down on Florida road in February alongside his friend, Tebello Motsoane, an entrepreneur and celebrity chef.
The rapper and celebrity chef were killed in Durban on the 10th of February 2023 outside a popular restaurant called Wish, which recently closed down due to the incident that had occurred, hence the permanent closure of the establishment.
