South African comedian Trevor Noah has bagged the Webby Awards under the category of Best Web Personality/Host for his ‘Between the Scenes’ segment on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
Trevor is no stranger to winning this prestigious award as he won it back in 2020 in the same category.
The former The Daily Show host took to his Instagram Stories to thank the academy and his fans saying:
“Wow! Such an honour. Thank you!”
The Webby Awards is a leading international award honouring excellence on the Internet. It is held by the International Academy of Digital Arts and has a legacy of rewarding work that challenges cultural, social, and entertainment norms to make information more accessible.
According to the Webby Awards website, this prestigious award was established in 1996 during the Web’s infancy.
“The Webbys is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. The Academy is comprised of Executive Members —leading Internet experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and creative celebrities—and Associate Members who are former Webby Winners, Nominees and other Internet professionals,” reads the website.
The event took place on the 15 of May 2023 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. It was hosted by American humorist and stand-up comedian, Roy Wood Jr.
It was also a day of black excellence as the cast of Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, Rihanna, Former US president Barack Obama, Doja Cat and Lizzo formed part of the Webbys winners list.
