The late Eusebius McKaiser’s recent passing has sparked a lot of conversations around the cause of his death, with some linking it to the COVID-19 vaccine that he advocated for. In a clip shared of a recent Kaya 959 interview, Redi Tlhabi refuted claims that the journalist and author’s death had anything to do with the vaccine.
The Kaya 959 interview post’s caption read:
“Redi Tlhabi slams claims about Eusebius McKaiser’s cause of death. Tlhabi says McKaiser’s reason for passing was not from the COVID-19 vaccine. She further explains that McKaiser was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2008.”
In the interview, the media personality and author commented:
“Firstly, Eusebius was proud to have been vaccinated, Eusebius never forced anyone to vaccinate. He chose it for himself, and he encouraged others to vaccinate. That doesn’t mean you are forcing people, that’s what he chose for himself based on the signs at his disposal and that’s why he encouraged people to do it.
“He had epilepsy, and he would sometimes have these severe seizures. Just last month Eusebius was in hospital for two days, having suffered an epileptic seizure, but he didn’t come on air or to write about it. And they were regular, there was an incident where he was off air for a while people probably thought he was on leave, he had an epileptic seizure at the gym, and this was four-five years ago.”
Redi also added, “I’m just saying that we are living in this world where the truth must live alongside lies. I’m not trying to change anyone’s mind. I think people who decided to spread mistruths, that’s not my audience. My audience is the one that’s wondering, that’s uncertain, that’s like I took the vaccine what if this happens to me.”
The Khwezi author concluded by saying that those who have taken the vaccine and are now worried after these rumours shouldn’t be, as nothing will happen to them. Adding that “it happened to Eusebius because he had epilepsy, and he had it long before we even knew there was something called COVID.”
