Retired American boxing champion Floyd Mayweather will be coming to South Africa in July, as part of his Motherland tour.
The American boxer is set to tour South Africa and Zimbabwe, where he will first stop in Harare on July 13 and 14, before moving on to Johannesburg on July 15 and Durban on July 16.
The news of his tour surfaced after it was shared by one of the promoters UFORYA Entertainment, which is a division of Universal Music Group, on their social media pages confirming the news via an Instagram post shared on 18 June. Ticket sales have not been made available thus far, however, they were said to be obtainable soon.

IOL claims that the retired boxing legend has traveled to South Africa before, most recently in 2014. The former boxer was rumored to be coming to the nation on December 12, 2022, to attend the Captains of Industry Knockout Dinner, to which he had been invited as a guest of honor, according to the World Wide Scholarships (WWS).
But once the event was canceled, Mayweather allegedly accused the promoters of breaking their agreement. This was according to TimesLIVE. According to reports, Mayweather was not paid the agreed-upon sum for his attendance by the event organisers. In addition, Mayweather’s attorney reportedly claimed that the promoters misrepresented the event and violated their contract when they used images to suggest that his client would be entering the ring.
