South African musician Goodwill Malinga better known as Dr Malinga has been deported from Zimbabwe.
The Petronella hitmaker was reportedly booked to perform in Zimbabwe at Ngom Primary School in Gwanda. However, due to the negligence of the event promoters they failed to secure the necessary clearance and work permit which resulted in the musician getting deported, iHarare reported.
The musician is said to have spoken out after the news surfaced. In a video shared the singer revealed that he flew to Zimbabwe for a gig but got deported without performing at the show.
“Yesterday we flew to Zimbabwe but we got deported.”
“Zimbabwe sorry for that. But it was complications from your side, from promoter’s side not from my side because mina I came,” he added.
According to iHarare, it is the hosting promoter’s responsibility to ensure that visiting musicians get a work visa before they arrive in Zimbabwe as required by law. Sadly, this important step was skipped, which led to Dr. Malinga’s regrettable deportation.

One Twitter user wrote: “The promoter was of the view that, what zimbos are doing in SA would apply for Malinga in Zim.but it is clear there is no country like ours where they are allowed to use our health system, South Africans would be deported at blink of an eye if they happen to be in Zimbabwe.”
