In an audio clip posted on Twitter, Carolyn Baldwin Botha, vice president of Miss South Africa World, has been accused of racism.
A Twitter user, who goes by the handle @_InkosiYesizwe, alleged that Carolyn used the k-word in an audio clip shared on the platform.
The speaker can be heard complaining in the audio clip about another person having to wait for sanitary products items at the mall.
“I told them to leave. And she wasn’t late, she was on time. She was there at 9am, an hour before she was supposed to be there, in a k****r infested mall. So, would you want to stand around there for four hours waiting for someone to maybe bring pads and tins,” a woman said in the audio clip.
Carolyn however, denied making those racist comments. She stated that the individual who created the audio “specialises in voice overs and video production” in a statement shared to Tshisa Live.
According to The Citizen Carolyn told the publication that she “did not state those words and am in the process of having the message authenticated,” said Carolyn who told The Citizen. The publication also reported that the Miss SA VP claims that the audio is AI generated.
