Rapper Molemo ‘Jub-Jub’ Maarohanye has been released on bail of R10 000 after he handed himself to the police on allegations of rape, assault and attempted murder. Reported early by SABC news journalist Chriselda Lewis, the news of his arrest were confirmed by the Gauteng police.
An SABC news journalist reported that the magistrate did not oppose the rapper’s bail but opposed the amount of R1000 requested by Jub-Jub’s lawyers. The journalist further stated that the court said that the charges faced by the Uyajola/99 TV host were more of a serious nature, adding that bail should start from R5000.
The TV channel also shared that Jub-Jub’s bail conditions stipulate that he is not to leave the country adding that he was also requested to hand in his passport.
It is not yet shared who the alleged victim is, and details of how the incident happened have not been released.
