So the big question is, ARE YOU READY 4THEMO$H?
Tracklist:
Track 1 – Intro (Sbu Zuma Interlude)
A somewhat traditional approach to Hip Hop intro songs and interludes. There are notable bass drops and hard sounds as the emphasis is on the narration of the song and getting everyone ready for the energy that is to come. ‘Meal starters’ or ‘pallet cleansers’ if you will.
Track 2 – Askies Ta ft Gaffi
Immediately the energy picks up as we are introduced to a faster tempo. ‘Askies Ta’ translates to ‘excuse me sir’. This serves as to say to all persons opposing or not understanding the reasons why the said artists (Tae Africa and Gaffi) act and speak the way they do. The featured artists go forth and attempt to explain that they are the way that they simply because they are from the Eastern Cape. Production credits go to Le Austine and Block66 .
Track 3 – Iyhu ft Bhut’Legend
‘Iyhu’ is essentially used as a sigh in isiXhosa and is closely related to an English ‘damn.’ The producers (Zino D & LD) brought in the perfect blend between melodic piano keys and hard 808s. The song infuses storytelling high energy perfect for the moshpit.
Track 4 – Kaso
‘Kaso’ or in English, ‘like this’ narrates a story where there are always people with advice and most times the advice does not come from a good place. Again, the producer Msaibeats brought in all the melodies necessary to captivate audiences without forgetting to maintain the vibes.
Track 5 – Mali ft Bravo le Roux
Mali is the peak of the project as the vibes here sky rocket. Knifebeatz and Shaney Jay come together to unleash a mammoth creature built from 808s, baselines and hard-knocking percussions. Bravo le Roux brings through a catchy hook which makes this the ‘mecca’ on the project.
Track 6 – QWEL’
In modern day youth slang, to qwel is to demolish and is commonly referring to life’s obstacles. There is an underlying motivation on this song which sees a blend of hard isiXhosa and catchy phrases meanwhile maintaining high energies throughout.
Track 7 – Big Yonkinto
When listening to this song, you can immediately pick up a change in sound as we again are introduced to a slower sound with no 808s but instead a log drum. A vibrant song nonetheless, it speaks to the ever continuous long the lavish life.
