Congratulations are in order for actress Thando Thabethe who received her very first South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA).
The 17th edition of the prestigious awards ceremony took place on Saturday evening at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.
Many stars shone bright, including Thando who won the award for Best Actress in a TV Comedy for Netflix’s How To Ruin Christmas.
The radio host took to Instagram to share her excitement for her win. She wrote, “To say I’m elated would be putting it lightly!!! This season of How To Ruin [Christmas] was particularly special!!! I was sooo overwhelmed last night that I didn’t get to share a very special story.”
She continued, “This show taught me how to laugh through some of the greatest pain!!! The birthing scene for one, was one of the most challenging. We shot it on the 28th of June, my late brother’s birthday!!! I was very much in my feels… but you @ferry_jele held my hand through that day, and on this day I learnt what it means to take your pain and turn it into art… comedy even ?!.
Thanking the colleagues, Thando then wrote, “@johnnybarbuzano for letting us play from season 1, all the cast and crew for playing…thank you!!! @netflixsa @burntoniontv for this very special franchise!!! And to all that love and binge How To Ruin Christmas THANK YOU. Ladies and gentleman a SAFTA AWARD-WINNING ACTRESS!!!! ?????????
