Snippets of Jada Pinkett Smith’s exclusive interview with Hoda Kotb of the Today Show recently surfaced, shocking social media users abroad and locally as she announced that she and her husband Will Smith have been separated since year 2016.
The couple had been rumoured to be headed for a divorce for many years, each time denying the rumours and presenting a united front.
Shared by the above mentioned channel, interviewer Hoda Kotb noted to Jada that she was shocked when she read in her memoir Worthy that in 2016 Jada and Will decided they were going to live completely different lives.
Hoda added:
“It was not a divorce on paper, but it was a divorce,” to which Jada agreed.
Asking Jada what led to them choosing to portray a united front, Jada responded:
“I think just not being ready yet, still trying to figure between the two of us how to be in partnership. And in regards, how do we present that to people, and we hadn’t figured that out.”
The interview will air on 13 October at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and her memoir will be out on 17 October.

After viewing the video clips, social media users shared:
I’m trying to figure out what’s really going on between Will and Jada. So they haven’t been together since 2016 but show up everywhere as a “couple,” red carpet event since 2022? That means Will slap Chris Rock for no reason for defending her.pic.twitter.com/klCxVTJQBm

Women like Jada Pinket not Smith should be a constant reminder to every man that your wife is not your relative. When a woman is no longer interested in you, she will discard you ruthlessly and will stop at nothing until she has ruined your public image beyond repair. Learn OR… pic.twitter.com/4JxDFU5SU4
