Miss South Africa 2023 finalist, film and television producer Melissa Nayimuli is set to release her highly anticipated documentary titled Chosi Chosi which is set to debut this December.
This is Nayimuli’s debut as a director and executive producer. The 27-year-old storyteller was born and raised in Butterworth, in the Eastern Cape to a Xhosa mother and an Ugandan father.
Chosi Chosi is inspired by Melissa’s childhood memory of sharing “intsomi” amongst her friends, which are mythical stories that sparked her imagination to go on this storytelling journey. The documentary will be around ordinary South African people sharing their stories about their cultures, backgrounds and their truths.
Coming from a unique cultural background has embedded Melissa’s advocacy for African unity, equality, anti-colourism, as well as anti-xenophobia. The multitalented model is one of the producers at leading film company, Blackbrain Pictures.
This fearless trailblazer first shot onto our screens when she entered the Miss South Africa pageant back in 2020. She then again dazzled as one of the top 5 finalists at this year’s installment of the national beauty competition.
It is almost time for the groundbreaking documentary to hit our screens, and Melissa is ready to conquer the film and television space!
