Cheapskate or not, this economy has made it clear that the cost of living is way too high, therefore it requires one to work smarter and take on any opportunity that allows us to maximise anything that we use in our households.

Brace yourself as we near those Christmas lunches and those festive braai events that produce a ton of dirty dishes with stubborn stains. Dishwashing liquid has become quite a staple in many of our households. We cannot help but notice how quickly it finishes as we often put measurements to our how much of it those we live with should use in order to make it last longer. Whether you use a teaspoon or a tablespoon amount, that 1 litre bottle will never last longer than 2 and a half weeks maximum.

Thanks to many other geniuses out there, there have been a few hacks that have gone viral showing us how to make dishwashing liquid last longer.

So, this festive you can focus on spending money on what matters and saving a whole lot more when it comes to dishwashing liquid.

A TikTok user has shared the steps that she has taken in making her dishwashing liquid last longer. She explains that the quality and the results are the same, the only difference is that she is saving much more money and users a lot less dishwashing liquid in a month.

Another highlight about the hack is that it does not require anything besides what you already have, all you require is salt and an empty recycled dishwashing liquid bottle.

Get mixing and get saving as these kitchen hacks come in handy this festive season.

@homehacks_bylarissa The dishwasher still makes as much foam, the consistency stays the same and I’m saving as I usually go through 2 bottles of dishwashing liquid a month vs me only buying 1 refill now. #fyp #foryoupage #homehacks #wifemomlife #cleantok #budgetqueens? #savewithme2023 ♬ original sound – Homehacks by Larissa
