In the most recent episode of the Podcast and Chill, notorious South African podcast king MacGyver ‘MacG’ Mukweho alongside South African radio personality and former Big Brother reality star, Solomzi ‘Sol’ Phenduka hosted none other than one of South Africa’s most famous sangoma’s, polyandrist and fellow podcast host, Gogo Skotheni.
Bringing all sorts of trouble and controversy to our screens, the duo questioned the prominent sangoma on some on the topics that are often not spoken of within the ancestral calling spectrum.
Posing a follow up question, Sol asked whether Gogo Skotheni was alluding that ubusangoma is a scam or not. She confidently responded, “ubusangoma is scam, calling is not a scam.”
She elaborated that “ubungoma was formed and started by a person who’s like me and you, with their own direction that they got from wherever.”
Differentiating between the two, she provided insight on what a calling is stating that, “now a calling is what you do that your ancestors show you through visions, through dreams…”
Processing what had been said by their guest, MacG and Sol expressed some form of understanding towards what was being explained.
The prominent sangoma further validated why many individuals are somewhat lost and seek assistance of sangomas in times of despair.
“You go to sangoma’s when you need something. They will tell you exactly what you need to hear,” she stated.
Concluding her statement, she challenged viewers to consult a sangoma in optimistic moments.
“Go to a sangoma when you’re not broke, when you don’t have problems. When everything is okay and go hear what they have to say, they’re going to look for trouble,” she shared.
