Sunny days are slowly but surely coming back, and this means people who suffer from migraine attacks should always be cautious and look after themselves.

Migraines are a common type of headache that cause severe pain as they can be debilitating.

The good news, however, is that there are often warning signs that can help you predict when a migraine is coming, and you can take action to stop it.  According to Mayo Clinic-  a medical group practise and Healthline– a health publication, there are many warning signs of migraines.

Here are some of the warning signs of migraines according to Mayo Clinic:

  • Strong sense of being off-balance or dizzy
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Blind spot in the visual field
  • A throbbing or pulsing pain (one side of the head)
  • Blurred vision

If you already have a migraine attack, Healthline advises that you try and stop it by doing the following:

  • Avoid bright lights
  • Lie down in dark and quiet room
  • Drink water
  • Apply a cold compress on the head
  • Try to take an over-the-counter pain reliever

The above-mentioned source says that if the migraine doesn’t go away after 72 hours you must go see a doctor.

Being aware of the warning signs of migraines can help to prevent and to reduce the severity. Paying attention to your body’s signals like sound and light can give you time to ease the symptoms. Mayo Clinic also adds that you should also consider going for medical help as migraines can be a sign of a serious condition.
