It’s one thing to perform live in front of thousands on land, and it’s another to perform up in the sky at a silent disco. Grammy award winner Zakes Bantwini recently shared his experience performing his latest single Mama Thula in a hot air balloon in the Serengeti.
Describing the event as “an absolutely remarkable once in a lifetime experience,” Zakes (whose real name is Zakhele Madida) took to Instagram to share his last day with Daybreaker – a morning dance community – in the Serengeti, Tanzania.
According to National Geographic, the Serengeti (or Serengeti Plains) is Africa’s most well-known savanna regions, and is home to one of the continent’s highest concentrations of large mammal species.
“I got the chance to perform my new single on a hot air balloon, through a silent disco musical experience and Mama Thula [which was released on 27 October] became more than just a song!” added Zakes.

“An experience Iād easily relive any day!” Zakes captioned his post.
