The Feather Awards hosted their 15th annual awards on 9th November. The award ceremony is Africa’s biggest queer award ceremony that is staged in South Africa. The Feather Awards celebrating all who support, inspire & empower the LGBTI Community.
Hosting the awards were the media personality Modiselle sisters, Refilwe and Bontle along with South African Sign Language activist, Andiswa Gebashe.
Here are the celebrities that won Feather Awards:
Thembinkosi Mthembu
Thembinkosi is a South African actor, known for his popular role as Bandile on Outlaws a series that airs on Showmax. He recently played a role on the most watched series, Shaka Ilembe where he showcased his great acting skills. He won Hunk of The Year award.
Mpumi Mops
Media personality and wife of the comedian, Mpho Mops bagged herself a Diva Extraordinaire of the year award. Mpumi is also part of the Showmax reality show, Mommy Club.
Thandiswa Mazwai
The vocalist and songwriter of musical group Bongo Muffin won the Simon Nkoli award. The Feather awards page honouring her for her inspiration, they said “A Queen on and off the stage, @thandiswamazwai is an African queer icon that has stood the test of time. Today we honour her with The Simon Nkoli Award, thank you for your voice, activism, strength, and resilience. It is inspiring to us all. ‘Homophobia is un-African and hate is un-African’.”
Lebo M
The producer and composer, Lebohang Morake is popular known for his songwriting and vocal work on the soundtracks to films like The lion King. He won the Drama Queen of The Year award.
Buhlebendalo Mda and Botshelo Mondi
Buhle the musician and creative director , Botshelo won the Cutest Couple Of The Year award.
