Having a set of goals in one’s life is an important part of any individual’s life. It gives purpose to people, and inspires them to wake up in the morning and work towards something big.
Furthermore, goals can be broken up into three categories, short, medium and long term which together can help you to make the impossible, possible. Having short and medium goals are proven to be beneficial and can act as stepping stones to achieving a long-term goal.
While these objectives are often organized in an individual’s mental space, it has been proven that one of the best ways of attaining one’s goals is by creating a vision board.
What is a vision board?
According to Psychology Today – mental health publication – a vision board is a collage containing a variety of pictures and words that are in line with one’s aspirations. Vision boards often act as a physical reminder to never lose track of one’s vision.
Indeed – a job searching website – recommends these tips to creating your own vision board:
1. Journal your vision, the best way of doing this is thinking about things your are most passionate about. Ask yourself what you would like to achieve next year, what are your core values, ideal job and where you want to travel to.
2. Choose a few key goals that you are passionate about and can achieve with your hard work and dedication.
3. Find powerful and inspiring images that represent those goals and arrange them on a board in a creative and aesthetically pleasing way.
4. Add strong words and phrases that motivate and energize you.
5. Display your vision board prominently in a place where you can see it often and remind yourself of your aspirations. With your determination and focus, you can achieve your dreams and turn them into reality.
