Phetole sadly passed away in a car crash 12 years ago, in 2011.
Taking to social media the mother of Phetole who would have been 36 years of age – shared a video of family and friends all donned in black to reflect on the memories they shared with the deceased.
“02.12.2023 was a special and blessed day to the Bakwena, where family friends gathered under one roof to celebrate your life/tombstone unveiling,” she wrote.
As with most mother-son relationships, the seemed to have had a solid bond with Candy continuously remembering him throughout her previous social media posts. At the time of his passing Phetole left behind a five-month-old baby, who is now nearly a teenager.
In another post earlier this year, the grieving mom shared that she again found herself heartbroken on what would have been his 36th birthday.

“Watching you grow up was the most amazing experience I could have ever asked for.
“Through your eyes, I gained a new, fresh perspective on the world. From the moment I first saw you, I was in love. While I cannot celebrate your birthday with you on earth, I will one day be able to celebrate with you in heaven. Until then, happy birthday.
“I hope that the angels are throwing an amazing birthday bash for you yesterday. Happy birthday, son! 💔🕯️🕊️😭🐊 #Mokwena #Skhopo my Angel.”
