Feeling tired, stressed and fatigued is a reality that many of us find ourselves facing this time of the year.
While the festive season has provided a bit of relief for many of us, the reality is that it does not allow us to relax entirely. This is due to the constant meal preps, keeping things organised, and travelling long distances to reach the specific destination, leaving you feeling even more burnt out than before.
Not only does it impact how you function on a daily basis, but also affects your productivity at work. This was similar for well known actress Nozuko Ntshangase.
The talented actress recently took Instagram to speak candidly about her struggles with feeling burnt out.
Taking to the social media platform she posted a video of herself on set whilst feeling extremely drained and not having the capacity to go ahead with the scenes.
“I remember this night: during the day, I was on set. I felt sick. My body felt heavy, and I couldn’t walk properly. I had no energy to do anything. I love my work, and I always try to commit to “finishing the day” no matter the circumstances.
“I’m definitely a team player, but that day I knew I had nothing left to give. At that moment, I couldn’t understand or articulate to my agent and the production team what I was going through,” the actress explained.
Furthermore, she adds that the industry is known for manipulating their workers to continue working, all so that they won’t lose money, but in that moment she explains that she just could not push herself and felt ashamed.
“I felt weak, disempowered, and trapped. Thank God for the executive producer who randomly showed up on set and told the production team to take me home. He was a godsend.
“When I saw him that day on set, tears started running down my face. My ancestors could see that if I had shot another scene that day, I would have probably hated acting forever. It was a painful experience.
She later encouraged other actors to be okay with not feeling well, and instead make it a priority to take care of their bodies.

“My dear actors, I know we love what we do. Let’s take care of our bodies and mental health. It’s not worth it to please everyone else and neglect our own needs […] Burnout is real! You will end up hating your craft when all you needed was to negotiate resting time with the production. Happy New Year Ma-Actor Amahle!”
