South African actress and comedian Stella Dlangalala was mistaken for American actress Tichina Arnold in a Spar advert that aired between soapies.
Stella is one of the prominent actors we have seen showcasing her talent in TV shows and movies such as The Wife and Netflix’s Jiva.
An X (formerly known as Twitter) user shared their thoughts about how they would have loved to see a local actress in the advert. They social media user wrote, “Last night I saw a SPAR grocery store advert starring an African American actor Ms Tichina Arnold of the popular sitcom Everybody Hates Chris.”
The X user added that they are not angry about it but rather disappointed as Spar could have found a South African actress for the role: “Surely they could have found a South African actor to do this advert. I am not angry I am actually sad.”

Replying to the tweet, Stella reposted and explained that it was her: “It’s me. 😭 my name is Stella Dlangalala and I am African. I owe my being to the hills and the valleys.”

Spar also commented by giving clarity to the X user, saying that there is so much resemblance between the actors.
The resemblance is crazy, right! Stella Dlangalala is her name, our very own gem. Take a closer look: https://t.co/bPNoUGwoDN
