It is not often that we come across inspiring narrative about extraordinary human beings with stories that leave us shocked, as we try to make sense of their ability to achieve extraordinary things.
American teenager Shania Shakura Muhammad, aged 16, made history as the youngest professional teacher in the United States of America in 2023 at the age of 15.
The teenager who teaches grade 3 learners graduated with her third college degree (bachelor’s degree) in 2023. She went on to pursue her master’s degree in business administration and marketing (MBA), which she will complete later this year, at the age of 16.
In an interview with singer Jennifer Hudson on her television talk show the Jennifer Hudson show, the grade 3 teacher shared that she started college at the age of 13. At 14, she graduated with two associate degrees on the same day.
She added:
“At 15, I graduated again making history at Langston University. I graduated with my bachelor’s and now I’m 16, a third-grade teacher, the youngest teacher in the United States, working on my master’s in business administration and marketing. I will finish my MBA in spring, and I will make history again at 16 years old”.

In a post shared on her graduation day in 2023, Shania expressed her gratitude to her dad who she said was her “coach, supporter, teacher, guide,” and everything that she needed in her journey to success at such a young age.
