Excitement is in the air as renowned amapiano producer Musa Keys gears up to make his appearance at this year’s Grammy Award ceremony.
The 23-year-old is one of two South Africans to be nominated in the category of Best African Music Performance for his song Unavailable featuring Davido, while the other artist is Tyla with her hit song Water.
Speaking about the achievement on local radio station 947, Musa reflected on the moment he found out that he was one of the nominees, saying:
“I was actually in a basement parking lot; I was getting a kota… I was getting ready for a meeting. My phone was blowing up the minute the Grammys posted about it. It was crazy.”
He further described this opportunity as a dream come true.
“For two years, I used to tell my friends all the time that I know I am going to get a Grammy.”
“I told myself if this is the introduction for me, from this year onwards I need to be nominated every year.”
With the big day looming, Musa joked that the only thing causing him to become anxious is that there will be many more fashion icons that will be appearing on the red carpet.
Meanwhile, with fellow South African Trevor Noah once again making an appearance as this year’s host there is no doubt that Musa will be feeling at home.
The event takes place on 4 February.
