The ruling party, the African National Congress recently held its manifesto launch to inform the country and its citizens about their future plans, should they be voted into power for a seventh term.
The launch was held at Durban’s Moses Mabhida stadium with busses full of people from different parts of the country there to listen to the new promises.
Award-winning musician and dancer Makhadzi whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona was among the speakers at the event, sharing how the ANC government has made the lives of the people in her village better.
Dressed in a gorgeous white dress, the singer shared:
“During my childhood our village was only having less than 100 houses. We didn’t have school because the numbers of learners were too small, but now as I’m speaking, kids from my village have a school, with everything. ”
She added:
“There was no water and electricity, government helped at my village at least to have water by the corner of my street and electricity. I grew up with my grandmother, my mom and my dad separated when I was still young. My father didn’t want her to leave with me, so I had to remain with my grandmother.”
Noting how the government’s social grant scheme helped her family, the Movie hitmaker shared:
“The government gave our parents grants, sometimes my mom would not send my grandmother money just because she was staying far from me, and I didn’t know where she was staying until I met her at the age of 10. But still without my own grant money from my mom, I managed to survive because government was giving my grandmother grant. I managed to taste a flavour of chicken at least once or twice a month, because of my grandmother’s grant.”
She finished off expressing how the grant helped her career, adding.
“As an artist my grandmother’s grant helped me to print my first stock of CDs to go sell them on the streets. ”
