Moja Love CEO Aubrey Tau and new Sizok’thola presenter Xolani Maphanga, also known for his show X-Repo, are allegedly the targets of an ordered hit by a Russian kingpin.
As reported by entertainment publication ZiMoja, the new presenter who replaced former host Xolani Khumalo was reportedly targeted by a Russian drug lord named Kiddo “Chapo” for their on-air drug busts.
Sizok’thola, a TV show that aims to eliminate the drug problem in the country, makes frequent drug busts in communities as a way to create a drug-free society.
A private investigator disclosed to the entertainment publication that a Russian drug lord contacted hitmen and offered them R500,000 to eliminate the CEO and presenter.
During a drug bust that took place during the duration of the show, the crew went to one of the places that Chapo uses to distribute his drugs and found out that he was allegedly using the school kids from around Soweto and Lanseria to sell his drugs.
The crew had to go to the police station as a way of taking precautionary measures.
When describing what happened on the scene that day, the Sizok’thola crew stated that one of Chapo’s workers had refused to open a gate. This made them wait for over two hours before finally gaining entry. Upon entering, they discovered drug manufacturing equipment and plastic bags filled with contraband. The sniffer dogs were then instructed to leave the site.
After receiving a call, the crew were instructed to vacate the premises immediately.
The CEO of Moja Love discovered a suspicious individual following him in Johannesburg which led private investigators to allegedly link this individual to the Vardos gang, a group of former inmates reportedly recruited by Chapo to assassinate Tau and Maphanga. The individual, who spoke with an Eastern European accent, was supposedly gathering intelligence for the drug boss.
“Law enforcement is handling the matter. As a channel, we will not operate from a space of fear when drugs are killing our communities. We will not be intimidated, and we will continue exposing those that continue to kill our nation with drugs,” said the channel.
