After the Africa Cup of Nations, the world was introduced to the talents of Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams, something South Africans were already familiar with. But what some may not know is that the award-winning goalkeeper has a son.
Ronwen, who became a father at the age of 20, shares a son named Mikael with his long-term girlfriend Roshni (to whom he refers to as the ‘First Lady’).
“I have known my girlfriend since I was very young, so she knows me from when I had nothing,” Ronwen previously told SowetanLIVE.
Talking about his son, he added, “You can imagine, I started playing professionally while I was still a teenager, so all the money and popularity can go to your head, but thankfully I had a son and it changed my life. I became a better human being and being a dad gave me that huge responsibility that made me re-evaluate my focus.”
Recently taken to Instagram, the Mamelodi Sundowns soccer player shared a picture of himself and the apple of his eye.

Many took to Ronwen’s comment section, some expressing their surprise that the goalkeeper was a father, some commenting on the duo’s similarity in appearance and others wondering where Roshni was.
“Like father like son,” wrote one Instagram user.
“No way, is this Mikael? Wow he’s grown so big, can’t believe my eyes,” said one shocked internet user.
While another person shared, “Wondering how it feels witnessing your father being a hero.”
